I discovered Eugene Delacroix's unique sense of colour and
romantic imagery in my first year of art college. In 1995 I
chanced upon an exhibition of his travel journals, at the
Institute Du Monde Arabe, in Paris. His painted drawings are
simply stunning. My miniature detail is from "Girl seated in a
Cemetary", painted by Delacroix in 1824. The portrait of
Frankie Lane is influenced by the more tonal and realist
work of Gustave Courbet.

Frankie Lane is a traditional musician and
originally from Co. Meath.
